When Things Fall Apart

Pema Chodron’s When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times

“We don’t experience the world fully unless we are willing to give everything away.”

There were a couple weeks in this Peace Corps journey where I was really struggling. I didn’t know if I had made the right decision for being here and I didn’t know if I could do it. I was feeling alone and pretty anxious. I’m sure I will have more phases of doubt during my next two years, but the beautiful thing about this was, I could turn to my Coven family and get some encouragement and advice. After talking me through some of my doubts and helping me make some ground rules for myself and this experience, Sam Chin recommended I read this book to help shift my way of thinking and remind myself to lower my standards and relax. Pema Chodron is a Buddhist  who wrote this book to explore an outlook on the three poisons in life: passion, aggression, and ignorance. She writes about the power of meditation and doing the things that scare us in order to grow.
