Tortilla Flat

John Steinbeck’s Tortilla Flat

“What pillow can one have like a good conscience?”

I’ve decided I’m going to do a little John Steinbeck review over the next few weeks by reading some of his most loved works. I kicked it off with the funny, charming, and character-driven novel, Tortilla Flat. Got to love a story where the town’s main currency is wine. I love Steinbeck’s style of writing which is simplistic and concise, but capable of painting really vivid imagery in the reader’s mind. This story is extremely quirky and strange (I could see it being made into a Wes Anderson comedy). Next up is Steinbecks, The Red Pony
