Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar
“I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart: I am, I am, I am.”
If I was to trust anyone with book recommendations, it would be my sister, Maura. One day over What’sApp, Maura recommended that I read some Sylvia Plath. I immediately started The Bell Jar and now have read almost all of her published poetry, as well. I love this book. It is semi-autobiographical and absolutely tragic. There is something about Plath’s writing and her story that has me absolutely entranced. It is no surprise to me that she has such a cult following.
