John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men

“His ear heard more than what was said to him, and his slow speech had overtones not of thought, but of understanding beyond thought.”

I read this book long ago in high school and decided to revisit it. It is the third John Steinbeck book I have read since joining Peace Corps and the 52nd book I have read in 2017. It is a must-read, heartbreaking story about two friends who are traveling and working together with the dream of one day buying their own land. It is a brilliant novel that can be read in one sitting. I got so much more out of reading it this time than I did in high school, so I highly recommend revisiting it.
