Brave New World

Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World

“But I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.”

With the elections and political theme of all news today, I decided to read a novel that is heavily politically charged. What better than Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World? This book takes the reader into a world where emotions are frowned upon while subliminal messaging is the key to a orderly and content lifestyle. This book definitely led me to ask some questions, such as, “What is the amount of control a government should have in regards to my happiness?” and “How should intentions be weighed into seemingly wrong strategies?” Fun fact: Brave New World has previously been banned in Ireland, Australia, and India for its political nature.
