Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies
“She’d swallowed it whole and pretended it meant nothing, and therefore it had come to mean everything.”
While I was back in the States for my friend Danielle’s beautiful wedding, my mom told me about the show Big Little Lies and we spent my last day at home binge watching episodes. It was so addictive. I was shocked by the ending, and in the credits I noticed it was based on a novel. Once I got back to Peru I knew I wanted to read it immediately. The book is even better than the TV show! The story is gossipy but has some pretty deep messaging about domestic violence, secret keeping, and the never-ending affects of lying. It’s intense but light at the same time. It’s the perfect book to lay on a beach and read. Of course, I’m saying it’s a perfect beach read because that’s where I imagined I was when I was reading it, but really I have no experience reading this book in that atmosphere. The perfect “combi through the Andes mountains” just doesn’t have the same ring to it as “beach read.” Nevertheless, read it and love it!
